Skin Tags and Mole Removal
Skin tags and moles are common, small growths on the skin. Skin tags are flesh-colored growths of skin that protrude from the surface by a small stalk-like structure. Moles are concentrations of pigment-producing cells in your skin. People with light skin tend to have more moles.
Adults tend to have between 10 and 40 moles on their body by the time they are 25 years old. Most moles and all skin tags are benign (not cancerous). However, when situated in prominent places, or locations where they cause irritation, such as the neckline, axillae, or panty-line, it’s best to have them removed.
Moles and skin tags can be located anywhere. Some of the most common places we find skin tags are eyelids, neck, armpits, breast and groin areas. Generally, skin tags appear where skin rubs against skin. Most moles occur on parts of the body that are exposed to the sun (ultraviolet radiation).
Skin Tag Removal
Not all skin tags need to be removed, but if they are causing irritation of embarrassment, they can be swiftly taken care of at our office. The main treatments for skin tag removal are freezing or surgical removal. In the first treatment, the skin tag is frozen with liquid nitrogen and will then fall off of its own accord. With a surgical procedure, the area is anesthetized and the tag or mole removed with special surgical scissors. Which procedure the doctor chooses will depend on the size and location of the tag or mole. Either way, the removal can be removed with a minimum of discomfort.
The best method of removing a mole will depend on its size and location. The two main methods used are either by means of laser or traditional surgery, or what is called surgical shaving. In surgical shaving, the mole is shaved off the surface of the skin. The shaving method is usually reserved for smaller moles.
While most moles are benign, if you notice a new mole or one that seems to be growing, have it checked out right away.
If you have a mole or skin tag you would like to have removed for comfort or cosmetic reasons, or a mole you are concerned may not be benign, contact our office and schedule a consultation today.

Nurse Rassmussen answers all of my questions, listens to my concerns, examines my skin, goes over my treatment protocol and gets me out the door quickly, but without feeling rushed, so that I can get on with the rest of my day. I have already recommended this practice to a couple of friends, and I will continue to do so with confidence.
I really appreciate the polite and professional service that Dr. Bajoghli’s practice provides in my dermatologic health. All of his staff make you feel welcome and are concerned for your care. Speaking as someone who neglected his skin care when I was young, I appreciate having a physician who is personally concerned for his patients.
