Lines between the Eyebrows
Many people have lines between their eyebrows that cause them to look and appear more tired, upset, stressed, and older than they are. Botox® and Dysport are some of many treatments offered by Skin and Laser Dermatology Center to address the lines between the eyebrows, as well as other wrinkles.
Botox® and Dysport are FDA-approved to temporarily improve frown lines (also known as expression lines or “the elevens” or “parentheses”) in adults through a series of quick, almost painless injections. If you are considering making Botox® and Dysport a part of your skin care routine, please reach out to us with any questions by calling (703) 893-1114.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Botox® and Dysport work beneath the surface of the skin to temporarily reduce muscle activity that causes the lines between the eyebrows (the muscles are known as corrugators). The reduction in muscle activity helps wrinkled areas appear visibly smoother with subtle, predictable results.
Results last between 3 to 6 months depending on the treatment area and individual factors relating to each patient. Many patients return for regular maintenance of their results usually two to three times a year.
Your treatment plan will be customized to achieve the goals you desire. Most patients desire natural, healthy, revitalized results, without looking like they have been overtreated. The providers at Skin and Laser Dermatology Center have years of experience addressing the specific needs of each patient, taking into consideration the natural symmetry of each face and the results patients hope to achieve. Call today to schedule a cosmetic consultation to see how we can help you reduce the lines between the eyebrows and any other wrinkles you may want to improve.
Side effects from Botox® and Dysport, if any, are usually mild and temporary. Botulinum contains proteins that, in rare circumstances, may be naturally safeguarded against by the body’s ability to produce antibodies. If antibodies are formed, the therapy will generate a lesser response. Temporary bruising sometimes is experienced but usually resolves within two to three days. In rare cases, there can be a slight asymmetry of expression or change in shape to the eyebrow. If this should happen, return to our office for evaluation and correction. During your consultation with our staff, please let us know if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
