Intimate Skin Laser Lightening
The skin in intimate areas is often darker than the surrounding skin and these areas often darken with age and friction. While this is a normal phenomenon, both men and women find this unattractive and unsightly. For people interested in addressing the color of the skin in intimate areas, Skin and Laser Dermatology Center offers safe, rejuvenating, transformative laser treatments. Lasering hyperpigmented (darker) areas of skin creates a more even skin tone that is cohesive over the entire body. For more information or to make an appointment, call Skin and Laser Dermatology Center today at (703) 893-1114 for a cosmetic consultation. Our providers will develop a customized treatment plan for your skin that prioritizes your confidentiality and comfort. We offer both male and female providers for cosmetic consultations.
Frequently Asked Questions
Our providers can lighten the skin of the vulva, inner thighs, perioral area, penis, and even the underarms, back of the neck, elbows, and knees. If there is another area you are interested in having lightened, our providers will be happy to discuss treatment options at your cosmetic consultation.
Many patients enjoy increased self-confidence in these intimate areas after treatment. This can translate to increased feelings of attractiveness and empowerment.
Darkening of the skin can be due to shaving/folliculitis, friction from fabric and chafing, childbirth, hormones, infection, some medical conditions, age, or other factors.
The laser removes the thin, uppermost layer of skin in order to reveal lighter skin and stimulate new, less pigmented skin formation.
Patients can expect to see results after each treatment, though it may take time for the full results of the treatment to be realized. Your provider will suggest how many treatments they believe it will take for final results during the cosmetic consultation. Some patients may be satisfied after 1-2 laser sessions, but depending on the area, the contributing factors, and results desired, additional treatments may be needed.
Potential side effects with the laser treatments are minimal and include post inflammatory pigmentary changes (discoloration of the skin) which usually resolves over time, temporary redness, altered sensation (also resolves over time), and rarely scarring. Some patients experience redness or mild swelling in the treated area immediately following treatment; this usually goes away in a few hours/days.
